Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker as a consultant, columnist syndicated, speaker, author, and TV show host. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals since February, 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to pay for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence was her mother. She was an excellent homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was always changing jobs during Corcoran’s life. Sometimes, her family depended on food delivery for free from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran states her father was a drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran struggled in school, and discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended a Catholic primary school. Corcoran who was in the process of failing numerous classes in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
